Kate Hosford graduated from Amherst College in 1988 with a degree in English and Philosophy. Before becoming an author, she worked as an elementary school teacher, a social worker, and an illustrator. In 2011 she received her MFA in Writing for children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her books are Big Bouffant, Big Birthday, Infinity and Me, Feeding the Flying Fanellis and Other Poems from a Circus Chef, and How the Queen Found the Perfect Cup of Tea. All of these are published by Carolrhoda Books, a division of Lerner publishing. She also has a picture book coming out with Abrams in 2018.
